Why use ROAR Design & Events

Jeni and John Franco

Jeni is an accomplished and respected Certified Meeting Professional with substantial achievement in leading major conferences, meetings and events from initial planning phases through successful event conclusions. With over 14 years of industry experience, Jeni has produced successful domestic and international events including executive level corporate conferences, annual meetings, user conferences, tradeshows, sales meetings and special events.

Prior to starting ROAR Design & Events with her husband John, Jeni held management positions at event planning companies and hotels, giving her an edge up in the industry with experience as both a planner and a supplier. This experience allowed her to qualify for a CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation, which she received from the Convention Industry Council in 2003.

She is a San Francisco Bay area native and has a bachelor of arts in communications from California State University, Chico.

Artist + Computer Geek (’85–’94) = Graphic Designer. This is the formula that created John's career in the graphic design industry. John grew up a talented artist, spending much of his time sketching, painting and creating collages out of magazine cut-outs. He was at the top of his art class in high school, winning awards and already designing professional logos. John's first computer was a Commodore 64, which came out right around the time the movie Wargames did. His fascination of computers grew, eventually opening a new artistic dimension for him to explore.

John's first job in the industry was during high school as a production artist at a local newspaper. The hours spent on the stat camera were grueling, but he eventually moved up to laying out the mechanicals and ad design. After that, he briefly attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a Graphic Communicatons major. Although his time there was cut short, he knew that pursuing a career in graphic design was what he was meant to do. In 1994, he attended Platt College, a vocational school for graphic design, where he acquired the necessary training to take his talents to the workforce. After finishing school, John found work designing novelty items for a company in San Diego. He worked directly with account reps on corporate and sport assignments, designing many products sold at the 1996 Summer Olympic games.

After spending over 5 years in Southern California, John moved back to the Bay Area in 1997 and quickly landed a job for the San Francisco Giants. He worked there for 10 years, finishing as Art Director/Senior Graphic Designer. He lead the creative team there, creating a fresh look for all annual work, such as designing the new seasonal identity for all advertising materials, and coordinating multiple priorities throughout the day for the organization's many different departments. John made the decision to work part-time during his last few years there so that he could explore a freelance career, taking his talent to new opportunities and to be a creative partner to companies in many different markets. It also gave him the opportunity to expand his skillset into design for the internet. In 2006, John felt confident enough in his accumulative experience to venture out on his own and started ROAR Design.

John lives and works in Napa, CA, with his wife and two children. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and participates in several local community organizations.
